In a way, the American sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” features our topic, Virtual Reality in Tourism. “It’s nice to get back to nature. Why don’t I do this more often?” With a HMD, more specifically a ZEISS VR ONE, the character Sheldon goes on a virtual trip into the woods. To further enhance his level of presence, he even uses an air freshener to simulate the smell of the forest. When his flatmate Leonard enters the room, Sheldon has to realize that his trip to the woods was only virtual and that he is actually still sitting in the living room.
🙂
“The Big Bang Theory” reaches on average 15 million viewers in the US and in 2015 2.52 million Germans watched the sitcom. We believe that this is a great opportunity to also familiarize people with the topic of VR.
