Industry advisor DigiCapital sent out a note today indicating that total investment into AR and VR has totaled up to $1.1bn since the start of 2016. This record investment is a whole 400% higher than total investment in the last quarter, and this quarter has not even ended yet. That an extremely high investment amount like this can be raised in just nine weeks is not quite ordinary, however, the founder of DigiCapital explains that this is mostly due to $800m that the AR company MagicLeap raised in February. These extremely high investments into the AR/VR market definitely show a strong interest in the respective technologies by companies, but do the consumers see it the same way? This is a question that we are researching ourselves at the moment, keep following us to stay up to date.
