The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, also known as Coachella, collaborates with Vantage.tv to provide Virtual Reality experiences. If you could not make it to California, you can experience the festival also from your living room with the Coachella VR app.

Coachella VR
Coachella is an annual music and arts festival in California, located in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. This year is the 17th year of the festival and the event takes place from April 16 to April 24. Coachella teamed up with Vantage.tv, to give also people at the other side of the world the opportunity to experience the famous festival. Vantage.tv offers VR to event professionals to provide fans from anywhere on the planet a “truly visceral, immersive experience”.
As part of the welcome package, everybody who bought a ticket for Coachella received a special Coachella VR headset. A corresponding mobile app (available for Android, iOS, and Samsung Gear VR) offers various VR experiences. With the app, viewers have the possibility to get access to behind-the-scenes VR content and exclusive interviews with this year’s performing acts and be part of live acts. “Before, during, and after the festival in April, fans from all over the world can be immersed in performances from top artists, experience 360-degree panoramic experiences from around the festival grounds, and watch VR experiences created by other festival-goers”.
Coachella provided already some VR experiences at last years festival. On the festival ground visitors could try out a Coachella or snowboarding experience with the Samsung Gear VR and also the clothes and fashion retailer H&M had a special VR booth. Nevertheless, the virtual experiences were not really noticed and due to a lack in quality also not really appreciated by the visitors.
We believe that this year’s concept for the implementation of VR will be for sure more successful. The mobile VR solution is a great opportunity to get an idea how it is to be part of that world-wide known festival. We are curious if other festivals will follow this example and give people around the world the possibility to join virtually.
